Banaglore/Mumbai/Delhi road on the 1st Oct evening is gonna be sure a crazy one, everyone would be in hurry to get quickly out from city boundary. I am listing down few best places to escape from Mumbai and Bangalore , that I personally been there and is based on my experience!

  Mumbai/Pune

a) Lonavala/Khandala– yes , this is one of the best/simple and quickest place to reach from twin cities using Mumbai/Pune expressway, Lovely climate/greenery /Adventure and many such hot-spots waiting to be explored.

Whether you are a nature lover , or on a romantic trip , casual trip or adventure junkie , you will get what one desire.

Things to do in Lonavala/Khandala –

If you are city lover , just explore the Lonavala Bazaar, from colorful bangles, to wooden crafted artifacts to famous Chikki , you won’t be disappointed

Khandala Ghat- Barely 5 kms from Lonavala town is the picturise Khandala ghat , enjoy the scenic beauty with Vada Pav and cutting tea

b) Alibaug/Kihim/Kashid Beaches– These are in range of 300Kms and can be in best short holiday destination list for Mumbaikar and Puneites. These can also be Last-minute-decision beaches.  Of three, Kashid is the best one to visit though it is approx 33kms from Alibaug.

Kihim Beach

c) Mahabaleshwar/Panchgani – Both twin towns in Mahrashtra is famous for farm house/second house for Bollywood stars, Boarding schools and Mapro products . The reason is none other than best cool climate, table top mountains , lakes and ghats. Mahabaleswar is approx 260 + kms from Mumbai and is 120 kms from Pune

PanchGani

My above recommendation is purely based on availability of good accommodation, accessibility and Things to do/ see criteria, I know , I am doing injustice by not including  other lovely hot spots of Maharashtra, but above sites can be well explored in 2 nights/3 days standard travel period.

Guidelines

– Always make advance reservation , During long weekend , most of the resorts/hotels are pre booked

– A compact raincoat or a quick dry T shirts   is very important considering the amount of rain-shower that happens especially in during and post Monsoon.

– Be safe first and take care of your belonging in cars/public places as there are incidence of theft
