ANDAMAN ITINERARY: TRAVEL BETTER: CHEAPER: SAFER

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN PORT BLAIR

I would suggest taking an early morning flight from your departing city (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi or Kolkata) and arrive Port Blair by late morning. The reason is you will have a full day to roam in awesome Port Blair.

The last ferry to Havelock or Neil island departs at 2 PM from Port Blair jetty, therefore it’s better to have enough time for the ferry. You can always take the next day morning ferry to those islands

Check-in my recommended best-priced hotel in the middle of the city for comfortable lodging in Port Blair while you explore the city and get to know the historical importance of Port Blair.

Insider tip: Don’t rush to see too many things as other commercial agencies suggest, take a break, and go slow, even a walk down the city in the evening would be good to enjoy.

Activity: Celluar Jail Light & Sound Show

DAY 2: DEPART TO HAVELOCK OR NEIL ISLAND

Port Bliar Ferry Point

Head to Havelock Island on board Cruise connecting the island from Port Blair! Havelock, about 50 kilometers northeast of Portblair, the Island is a hidden jewel in India.

There are basically two types of ferries transport visitors and the local population to Havelock and Neil island. One is operated by the government and other by private players. Needless to say the cost and facilities available in government-operated ferries are not so good but it’s okay at the given cost.

Ferries Services Detail: Government Services  & Private Services

REACH HAVELOCK & CHECK-IN THE HOTEL

If we stick to our plan, we will be reaching to havelock later afternoon and immediately you will be checked in to pre-booked comfortable hotel or resort. I strongly suggest you relax & enjoy the calm and serene environment around you. Relax, you are now at the best islands in India

After a great dinner, let’s do some brisk walk around the property and enjoy the beach long and serene walk with your loved one

DAY 3: FULL DAY IN HAVELOCK ISLAND

Day 3 is all about you and awesome Havelock to explore. After a great early breakfast in the morning and a walk on the beach, you can go for the great experience of scuba in Havelock or try less adventure activity of Snorkelling in the Andaman sea.

I will suggest you experience great local seafood cuisine for your afternoon lunch at any Havelock food outlet. Please do note that being an island, the food price is on the higher side, and the option of hard drinks is limited.

LATER IN THE EVENING RADHA NAGAR BEACH

Yes, you can take a scooter for rent (approx Rs 500/-, 24 hrs) from any rental shop and go to the most beautiful beach in Asia.

The Radha Nagar beach. As the beach is located on the western side of the island and so you will witness the best sunset of your lifetime. You have to see the Radha Nagar beach in actual to believe in my words

HAVELOCK ISLAND ACTIVITIES

Havelock Scuba Centre

Apart from enjoying and exploring the lush and beautiful Havelock Island, you can do or experience below adventure activities for which the island is known. I have another post exclusive on Havelock Island.

  • PADI certification course for Scuba Dive
  • Snorkeling

DAY 4: YOUR DAY AT HAVELOCK

After early breakfast in the hotel, take the morning at ease and enjoy the lovely and energetic atmosphere on the island. If you are traveling with your friends or on a couple of trips, don’t forget to take loads of memorable photos and videos.

Havelock as such is easy to go destination, You can explore the whole island on the bike that you hired the previous day, isn’t this cool! Spend the last evening of Havelock in one of the pubs or cafes and cherish the doing nothing attitude while on the island.

DAY 5: TRANSFER TO NEIL ISLAND

Today, have an early breakfast in your hotel and proceed to catch the ferry to Neil Island from Havelock Jetty according to the ferry timings.

On arrival at Neil Island, go straight to the respective pre-booked hotel. After check-in at the hotel, you will visit unspoiled white sandy beaches at Bharatpur, Sitapur, and Lakshmanpur. All these beaches are worth visiting while you stay a day in Neil island.

Later, return back to the hotel at Neil Island for an overnight stay.

DAY 6: RETURN TO PORT BLAIR FROM NEIL ISLAND

Morning is free for your leisure. After your breakfast and photoshoot proceed to the Neil Jetty to take the return ferry to Port Blair according to the ferry timing. On arrival from Neil Island to Port Blair, you can check-in to respective Hotel / Resort at Port Blair for an overnight stay.

SUMMARY & CONCLUSION

An inspirational quote by Mark Twain about the value of Spread Your Wings: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ”
