People prefer this ashram to view the Ganga aarthi during the twilight time. The universal prayer in the morning along with meditation and yoga classes makes this place exuberant, filled with positive vibes everywhere.

It is famous for Ayurvedic treatment. 

Many tourists come here for treatment. The treatment is special which includes music therapy, a strict healthy diet, and yoga.

This ashram is open for all. Visitors irrespective of community, race, and religion are welcomed here. One can stay here up to 15 days based on the requirement you can choose.

There are 1000 rooms available with three times meals. For people who join classes, they conduct extensive yoga classes and Vedic heritage.

Besides this, it has a wide range of books at the ashrama library where one can learn more about Indian Philosophy and Vedic science. If you are a woman who is traveling to Rishikesh for spirituality, then this is the place for you.

This place is well known for yoga teaching and this ashram was visited by the former president and great scientist of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.

They provide free yoga and meditation classes, special yoga classes for women in the evening by women trainers. Also, accommodation here is free of charge for seekers.

You can reach this ashram by any means as it is located near Lakshman Jhula road near the Madras cafe. From here, the railway station is just 2 km away whereas the airport is 17 km and Haridwar is 20 km.

#7 Omkarananda Ganga Sadan

This ashram is located at the banks of the river Ganga. The specialty of the ashram is they teach Iyengar yoga. This ashram was established in 1993 by Omkarananda Saraswati.

Here they follow the methods taught in the ancient yoga sutra book of Patanjali. Hence it is the home of Patanjala Yoga Kendra in Rishikesh. If you are looking for some serene place to relax and experience yoga during travel, then this is the perfect place.

The activities here are lectures on the divine Bagavath Gita, performing daily aarthi, and evening classes on Iyengar yoga.

Yoga classes are provided for all, if you are looking for intense yoga classes then make sure you book classes one month in advance.

#8 Sadhana Mandir and Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram

If you are looking for some private relaxation time at the ashram, then this is the best place for you. The ashram is covered by a beautiful rose garden along with an enchanting lotus pond and mango trees.

Here they teach traditional Himalayan Yoga. Also, individual personalized lectures and individual spiritual retreats for guests. This ashram was founded by Swami Rama in 1966. He wrote many books on Yoga and spirituality.

Facilities

  • Here they provide individual cottages for accommodation, however, only 100 guests alone can stay at a time.
  • If you are alone it is better to take a single room. They have a double room as well. If you are fine to share with fellow guests then Dormitory is available.
  • All the rooms have two beds and an attached bathroom with them.
  • When it comes to the Dormitory, each room will have 4 beds with attached bathrooms.
  • When it comes to food, they provide a delicious three-course veg meal. Since it is an ashram you can’t expect Non-Vegetarian anywhere.
  • Here you get a WiFi facility as well at the reception. If you want to know more about Yoga and gain some spiritual knowledge, they have a library as well.

It is located 3 km from Rishikesh, near Ram Jhula. Whereas from railway station 6 km and 10 km from the airport. One can easily walk and go to this amazing ashram from Ram Jhula as it is just a 10-minute walk.

#9 Swami Dayananda Ashram

The amazing ashram was founded by world-renowned Vedanta teacher Swami Dayananda Saraswati in 1960. 

In this ashram, they teach Vedic chanting, Bagavath Geeta, and Upanishads along with Yoga and meditation. Another noticeable fact about this ashram is here there are few small temples inside the premises.

The guests who are staying in the ashram can perform Puja rituals to the idols in the temple by themselves either in the morning or evening or both the time.

  • There are a total of 150 rooms available on the ashram premises.
  • The rooms are simple but comfortable for the guest to stay.
  • They even have computer rooms with two computers for students to browse. These computer rooms are quite small.
  • They have a book store where you have a good collection of books.

One can reach this place by bus as it is 3 km from Rishikesh bus stand whereas 4 km from the railway station and 18 km from the airport.

#10 Phool Chatti Ashram

One of the oldest ashram in Rishikesh which was found in 18th century by Sri Devi Dayal Ji Maharaj Ji. The ashram got the name as it is surrounded by the pleasant mountains and flower garden and hence it is called “land of Flowers”.
